MGP Impact Funding Office

IRC lobbied the federal government to establish a $500 million Socio-Economic Impact Fund to be provided by the federal government to mitigate the anticipated impacts from the Mackenzie Gas Project (MGP). The management framework for the fund divides it among the impacted regions; the ISR allocation is 30% ($150 million) over a 10-year period.

As a result, IRC's Community Development Division (CDD) expanded to include the establishment of a MGP Impact Funding Office. In January, to work more efficiently, the staff of CDD, MGP Impact Funding Office and Self-Government centralized their offices on the main floor of the Inuvialuit Corporate Centre.
