Project Jewel: Family Whaling Camp

Date:
Monday, August 6, 2018 to Friday, August 10, 2018
Location:
Kittigazuit/Whitefish Station

Project Jewel is hosting a Family Whaling Camp in the Kittigazuit/Whitefish Station area for three families from the Inuvik region.

This program will be held from July 16 to 20, 2018.

Please be advised that this program has been tentatively postponed until the first week of August 2018.

As part of Project Jewel’s on-the-land wellness component, this program will allow families to increase their on-the-land knowledge, take part in a harvesting tradition, and provide an opportunity to spend quality time together in order to strengthen relationships.

All participants will be staying at a traditional whaling camp and the traditional preparation practices of maktak and fish will be taught. This will allow families to experience a subsistence style of living that their Elders and ancestors have lived for generations.

Apply before July 12, 2018.
