Calls for Expression of Interest – On the Land Program

Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) and its Health & Wellness Division is offering beneficiaries with an established camp or cabin and ready transportation the short-term financial assistance to get out on the Land.

Recognizing that going out on the land is traditionally and culturally relevant especially during this time of uncertainty IRC is prepared to accept Expressions of Interest from beneficiaries who are willing to spend 14 or more days out and the costs associated with supporting these On the Land activities.

While this support is being managed by IRC for beneficiaries living within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR), IRC has also been working in partnership with Government of the Northwest Territories to ensure a similar support program to assist beneficiaries in the Northwest Territories but living outside the ISR who are wanting to go on the land.  Indigenous Services Canada is in full support, offering expanded funding towards this initiative as another act of reconciliation with Inuvialuit.

Expressions of Interest need the following information:

• Your name and contact (phone or email)

• How many people you will take out and their names

• Location of your camp or cabin and how you will get there

• How long you will go out on the land

• Level of experience on the land and communication/emergency plan.

If you have already left the community for your camp to spend an extended time on the land, IRC encourages you to save your grocery and fuel receipts for a possible reimbursement upon return.

Those outside the ISR who can go on the land can contact ontheland@inuvialuit.com and save their receipts for possible reimbursement.

You may send this information by private message to Inuvialuit Regional Corporation on facebook or email ontheland@inuvialuit.com

Koana, Quyanaq, Quyannaini for your interest in spending time on the land for your own health and for the health of our communities.
