ICRC Preparing Book On Inuvialuit-Owned Schooners; Invites Story and Photo Contributions
Inuvialuit Cultural Resource Centre (ICRC) invites the contribution of stories and photographs of Inuvialuit-owned schooners as they plan and prepare to publish a book on that same topic.
At the height of the trapping era, sources estimate that there were up to 50 Inuvialuit-owned schooners. Many of these are still fondly remembered in stories.
ICRC has found information on 30 schooners so far, but is hoping the public will be able to assist in compiling a complete list and history.
If you have any information that you would like to share, please send us an email by September 30 and we will follow up with you.
