Inuvialuit Regional Corporation is seeking applications for Chairperson, Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC).

This position is responsible to lead the IDC board and subsidiaries, ensuring that good governance practices are in place and observed. The Chairperson will be committed to fulfilling the goals of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement and the mandate and strategic objectives of the Inuvialuit Development Corporation while ensuring a productive relationship occur between Board and management.

Representing the Inuvialuit Development Corporation, the Chairperson is the public face of IDC and its chief communicator to its Shareholder (IRC), the beneficiaries, the business community and within community, regional and national forums.

As a leader in carrying out the IDC mandate, the Chairperson must understand the fundamentals of business and possess analytical skills and judgement that will allow the Chair to be fully engaged in the essential function of IDC, including day to day oversight of subsidiaries including Canadian North, Weldco-Beales Mfg., IDC Properties, Stantons and Aklak Air Ltd., and its governance. The Presidents of Canadian North and Weldco-Beales Mfg., and the General Manager of IDC, report to this position.

The IDC Chair holds this full-time position appointment at the pleasure of the IRC Board for a term of three (3) years. It is based at the Inuvialuit Corporate Centre in Inuvik. Upon appointment, a comprehensive salary and benefits package is established.
