Inuvik, NT –Full-Time –(2) Two-Year Term

Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) invites applications for the position of

based in Inuvik, NT. Under the guidance of the Research Manager, the Clean Energy Coordinator will be responsible for supporting community energy priorities and establishing an inclusive approach to clean growth implementation efforts within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR).

Main Responsibilities:

•Coordinate and facilitate community meetings related to reducing dependency on diesel and promoting cleaner growth;

•Assist in developing the ISR’s clean growth strategy and provide recommendations towards implementation;

•Promote and support the development of community driven cleaner energy proposals, energy education and outreach programs;

•Liaise with Territorial and National departments to ensure coordination and facilitation of information sharing;

•Research and advise on carbon pricing, clean growth, alternative energy and infrastructure initiatives;

•Provide support to the Inuit-Canada Joint Clean Growth and Climate Change table.


The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education, experience and knowledge:

•BA or Bachelor of Environmental Studies with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field;

•College diploma in related field and minimum of 7 years related work experience; Master’s Degree in physical, social or environmental sciences or related fields is preferred

•2 years experience in project planning, proposal writing and budget management;

•Experience in analysis and communicating statistical information with a focus on non-technical audiences;

•Experience in developing community projects with the ability to create both long and short-term plans based on community input;

•Knowledge and interest in Canadian energy policy, funding initiatives and carbon pricing legislation;

•Knowledge of government energy programs, strategy and opportunities;

•Knowledge of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region and the Inuvialuit Final Agreement;

•Ability to plan, schedule, supervise, conduct, evaluate and report on projects and programs;
