Chairperson, Inuvialuit Development Corporation

The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation is seeking applications for Chairperson, Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC).

This position is responsible for leading the IDC board and subsidiaries, ensuring that good governance practices are in place and observed. The Chairperson will be committed to fulfilling the goals of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement and the mandate and strategic objectives of the Inuvialuit Development Corporation while ensuring a productive relationship occur between the Shareholder (IRC), the IDC Board and Management.

Representing the Inuvialuit Development Corporation, the Chairperson is the public face of IDC and its chief communicator to its shareholder (IRC), the beneficiaries, the business community and within community, regional and national forums. This position is expected to travel to each community in the ISR on a regular basis as IDC’s ambassador driving the strategic message of regional employment and economic development.

As a leader in carrying out the IDC mandate, the Chairperson must understand the fundamentals of business and possess analytical skills and judgement that will allow the Chair to be fully engaged in the essential functions of IDC. This includes day to day oversight of the governance and operations of IDC and its subsidiaries including Weldco-Beales Manufacturing., IDC Properties, IDC Construction, Stantons, Aklak, and Delta North Alliance. The President of Weldco-Beales Manufacturing, and the General Manager of IDC report to this position. The IDC Chairperson sits on the Canadian North board of directors.

The IDC Chair holds this appointment on a full-time basis at the pleasure of the IRC Board for a term of three (3) years. The position is based at the Inuvialuit Corporate Centre in Inuvik. Upon appointment, a comprehensive salary and benefits package is established.
