IRC Congratulates New President Of National Inuit Youth Council
Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) would like to extend a congratulatory message to newly-elected National Inuit Youth Council president Ruth Kaviok.
An advocate for suicide prevention, climate change prevention and the importance of education, Ruth will hold the position of president for the 2017-2019 term.
The 19-year-old from Arviat, Nunavut is excited to work with the National Inuit Youth Council - which includes Inuvialuit representative Melody Lily Teddy from Tuktoyaktuk.
“As president, I look forward to representing the national voice of Inuit youth," Ruth said. "We have important knowledge to share and I will bring my passion for Inuit culture in advocating for the values and priorities of our youth."
We wish Ruth the best as she begins work on creating a positive future for youth across Inuit Nunangat.
IRC would also like to recognize former president Maatalii Okalik and her dedication towards Inuit youth rights, needs and priorities. Thank you for all your work over the last two years.
